Read-aloud to the Youth:
Miss Grand Hmong 2025, Suabzoo Vaj, had the opportunity to join an elementary school in Madison, WI for a read-aloud. It was a great experience and beautiful opportunity to share about Hmong American Day! Thank you for having Miss Grand Hmong 2025.
Today we celebrate the contributions of Hmong people to America, especially the role of our brave soldiers in the Secret War. We honor the culture we’ve brought to American communities. However you are celebrating today, it’s an important time to appreciate Hmong culture and remember the sacrifices made.
“Nco txog keeb kwm, hwm cov qub tub rog, thiab ua kev zoo siab rau Hmoob lub neej tshiab” – Suabzoo Vaj

Generational Trauma workshop:
As we recognize differences in our experiences,
it is important to remember we make our own definition of what it means to be Hmong-American! No matter which culture, tradition or religion you follow,
celebrating your Hmong roots while allowing growth with American opportunities and customs is key.
YOU get to define what Hmong-American is!

Mental Health Awareness Dance Competition:
For Mental Health Awareness Month, an online dance competition will be conducted. The groups will have to
submit a video with a 20-30 second explanation on why Mental Health is important in the Hmong community. Then, a 1 minute choreography to Chenning Xiong’s
song, “Hlub Koj Tus Kheej” (Love yourself)
The winner will be based on votes from the community on Facebook. The videos will be posted on the Miss Grand Hmong Facebook page where the public can vote using a form. This way, we can spread the message wider from shares on Facebook.
The sponsor for this project is Shell’s Media who has
donated $500 towards this project, Cheng Captured who has donated $150, and Chenning Xiong who has donated $100.
The audience of this project is the entire Hmong community, mainly those interested in dance. As
dance is popular and continuously rising in the youth, this will be a great way to spread the message.
